Direct Support Professionals work with adults with developmental disabilities living in community residences. They assist with daily living skills, attending to personal care needs, helping to prepare meals, transporting and other activities. Direct Support Professionals also help implement & document individualized goals while ensuring a safe, supportive and nurturing environment. Candidates should be able to work independently and have strong interpersonal skills.

Reports To: House Manager and Coordinator
Status: Full-time and Part-time, Non-Exempt
Division: Jawonio, NJ
Location: Bergen and Passaic Counties, NJ
Shifts: Day, overnight, evening and weekend shifts required
Education/Experience:
HS diploma or equivalent; Experience working with MR/DD population may be substituted for education requirement.
Additional Requirements:
- Valid driver's license (for 3+years minimum) & acceptable driving record
- Must be cleared/maintain acceptable record under NJ state mandated criminal background check process
- Must be cleared under the NJ Central Registry of Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities
- Must be clear and maintain an acceptable record under the Medicaid Fraud & Abuse clearance process.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- The ability to adjust shift, residence (work location) or work schedule (hours, days) as needed by the agency based on staffing patterns and consumer needs.
- Medication Administration, First Aid & CPR certification or eligibility or certification.
