The mission of Jawonio New Jersey - a community resource for children and adults with disabilities and special needs - is to advance the independence, well-being and equality of people with disabilities or special needs. Jawonio NJ provides comprehensive medical, clinical, rehabilitative, educational, employment, day habilitation services, service coordination and community living services to children and adults with physical, developmental and/or emotional disabilities. Our aim is to help consumers reach their optimal levels of funtioning by enhancing their health, education and employment opportunities. The goal of all Jawonio NJ programs is to provide a framework which assures opportunities for individuals with disabilities to live as valuable members of the community.
The name Jawonio provides focus for our goal; it comes from a Native American word meaning "independence". Jawonio Inc. is certified by NYS OMRDD for Day Training, ICF/DD, NYS Department of Health, NYS Office of Vocational and Educational Services for Individuals with Disabilities, NYS Department of Labor and NYS Office of Mental Health. We are an affiliate of the Cerebal Palsy Associations of NYS and a contract agency of Rockland County. We are members of the NYS Rehabilitation Association, the NYS Association of Community Residential Agencies on the State level. On the national level, we are a member of ACCSES-DSPA a disability service provider advocacy group.
